Before You Head to Key West: Your CEO Weekend Prep List
This weekend is all about leaving with your marketing DONE, not with another to-do list. The more you bring with you, the more we can actually build together in the room.
Get your logins sorted
- Make sure you can log into your website (WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Showit, etc). Test it before you leave home, not Friday morning.
- Not sure what platform your site is on? Scroll to the bottom of your homepage and look for a "powered by" logo, or check your last invoice from whoever built it.
- If you're on WordPress, confirm you have Yoast or RankMath installed, or know who can give you access.
- Log into your Instagram, Facebook and/or LinkedIn on your laptop and phone so you're not hunting for passwords.
- Search your business name on Google and see if your Google Business Profile shows up. If you have one, make sure you can log in. If you don't, that's okay, we'll set it up together.
- Download Claude (or ChatGPT) on your phone and create a login before you arrive.
Gather your clients' words
- Pull together a few recent testimonials or reviews (written or screenshots).
- Save real client emails, DMs or call recordings where they described their problem in their own words.
- Start a notes doc with any client quotes you remember off the top of your head. Rough is totally fine.
- Text or ask 2 to 3 clients this one question: "How would you have searched for what I do, before you found me?" Their answers are gold for our SEO session.
- Grab your direct Google review link so it's ready when we write your review request.
Do a little homework on your own site
- Screenshot your homepage and About page as they look right now (or copy the text into a note). That's your safety net if you want to go back.
- Think about who you serve most. You don't need it perfectly worded, just come with a clear picture of the client you'd love more of.
- Find one Facebook group, LinkedIn thread or online space where your ideal clients actually hang out. We'll use it for a live exercise.
Pack these
- Laptop and charger
- Phone and charger (with plenty of free storage for video)
- An open mind about editing your own website. You do NOT need a developer for anything we're doing.
What to wear (yes, we'll be filming!)
We'll be capturing b-roll footage all weekend, so you'll go home with real video of YOU to use in your content. And here's the thing, your clients don't want the polished, headshot version of you. They want to see the woman they'd actually be working with on a Tuesday afternoon.
So dress like your everyday self. Your favorite comfy top, your go-to jeans, the cardigan you always reach for, whatever you'd wear on a normal client day. No need for a blowout, a full face of makeup or a brand new outfit. If you have a favorite mug, notebook or planner you use every day, toss it in your bag too. Those little real-life details make your footage feel like you.
